day 227.

Late night/early morning tarot reading.

It had been awhile:

the artist of bones, the seeker of bones, the apprentice of bones.

I rarely pull the bones suit, even though it is secretly my favorite. It is the earth suit, and I clearly identify with it as a through and through Capricorn (in many ways, anyway). What I got from this reading (excerpted from the Collective Tarot card descriptions):

The artist of bones: nurture yourself in just the way that you need (and deserve) to be nurtured. This card is about health, place, groundedness and self-love…We need to feel love for our bodies; we need to feel at home. You are at a point now where you have learned what it is that you desire in order to feel safe, happy and whole.

The seeker of bones: She comes when we are in the midst of a new dream. She is playful and resourceful. She is observant and can “zero in” her sights on what is directly in front of her. she is you. If you pull this card in a reading it is an indication of a quest, a search for something, a need that may just be coming in to your consciousness, or something you have always known you wanted. You are in the process of embarking on that quest. Enjoy the thrill of the search!

The apprentice of bones: If you draw this card, it is likely that you too have started on a course of study in a specific area of interest, or that you crave such an experience…it is likely that life is pointing you in the direction of the educational experience that will most suit you. It may be your life’s work. You must remember your internal strength, intelligence, and core worth. Be discriminating. Take responsibility for your education.

Have I mentioned how much I love the Collective Tarot? They just launched the 3rd printing of the deck, and I highly recommend you treat yourself to one. One of the best self-care decisions I ever made, as I am frequently turning to it for guidance and reflection.

day 112.

new moon manifesting.

wishing and dreaming on my new living situation.

consulted the cards:

it says: “ripening conditions, finding each other, gathering together, and developing strong bonds. It signifies the beginning of a new relationship that is guided by deep understanding and mutual equity…In a collaborative sense, partnerships are forged with differences being transcended…things are happening on a heart level and shouldn’t be reasoned out by logic. Be open and feel your way through the situation.”

that feels pretty damn good as I embark on this new home adventure with Wyatt. I’m ready for it.

tarot card of the year.

On New Year’s Eve, i did an elaborate tarot reading for the year based on the 12 astrological houses. i feel like i got a lot out of it but also that some of it didn’t apply or didn’t really make a lot of sense based on the deck i was using (The Collective Tarot). i wasn’t fully satisfied with my new year reading, so on New Year’s Day i decided to draw just one card as a forecast for my year. i figured i’d use both of these readings to guide me a bit on my path for 2012.

interestingly enough, i pulled the same card that i had pulled the night before for the 1st house (self). i was definitely a bit freaked out when this happened. i mean, i really believe in the cards and have had special, magical readings in the past, but this had never happened to me before. clearly, the cards were telling me something. and i’m doing my best to listen.

the card i pulled: six of keys

some of what it says:

“This is the card of victory. It’s been a fantastic battle, one minute you were laying backside in the mud, and the next, crouched, your inner cub prepared to pounce on its opponent. Mud covers everyone and everything. And now, one wrestler stands…You! … Your creativity and persistence has paid off in the ring, and you get to savor this glory. The time and energy it took to gain this victory wasn’t easy. So take in your shining moment!

We all have a turn at standing on the winner’s platform, sliding through the mud, being one of the crowd, and playing in the band. Recognizing this, we can respond to our losses with more grace, trusting that success will return to us once again. We can also view our victories more modestly, acknowledging privileges that may have brought us this success, helping our opponents up, and whole-heartedly appreciating the challenge they’ve given. …

Be your own crowd and celebrate fabulous moments of personal victory. … Allow it to inspire you to commit to new goals and challenges that will help bring you to future victories. Learning how to pass on what you’ve learned in your own victory can help to lift others up in their lives. Sharing what you’ve learned also helps to remind you of how you gained the victories in your own life.”

i’m going to do my best to carry these words with me throughout 2012.
